Responsible parents that we are, we've gated off the family room and made it the baby's play room. For the most part, it's a pretty harm-free room. I mean, we didn't put padding on the corner of the TV shelf, but the bookcase is tethered to the wall and "choke-ables" aren't allowed in. Just couches and baby toys.
And now? I have to remove baby toys!
Apparently, Ava takes after Nana Higby. Legend has it, when Nana was a toddler, she would move the lamp from the end table so she could climb on it! And I guess since Ava's middle name IS Barbara (after Nana), it's only fitting that SHE be the first to give me climbing issues!
See that yellow toy in the bottom right-hand corner of the picture? That's a "table" that the gang likes to sit & stand in. Generally, they're fighting over who's turn it is to be in it. But today, Ava figured out how to push it up to the couch so she can climb on up and explore.
But that wasn't enough for Miss Ava. Noooooooooooooo...she has to bring others in to her life of crime.
As proud as she was for her discovery and subsequent teaching of her brothers, I still had to remove Miss Ava from the couch.
And she was not happy!
Needless to say, the yellow table will be spending a lot of time outside the gated community in the coming days.

haha! i only laugh because my 3 do the same thing! they LOVE to take apart their activity table and fight over who gets to climb up and sit in it! and they love to rearrange the furniture and climb too!
we are climbing here too! It is driving me crazy! LOL It would not be so bad but Logan taught Jess and Will!
One of my daughters was/is a climber too! In fact when I tell her to get in her highchair to eat, she will climb OVER the tray part to get in..she's gonna break her neck! I'm already trying to think of ways to blame it on her daddy not watching her :)
Why do I find pictures of babies crying the cutest ever? Miss Ava does have that mischeivious gleam in her eyes; I knew she was trouble :)
That is one thing I really never had to deal with was climbing...thank goodness it sounds like it's quite the challenge!! Good luck to you, and I love the new gated community :)
AWWWW! Never underestimate the power of the littlest one. :o)
Too funny! I worry about the power of suggestion between my three too. Once one figures something out, the others are sure to follow.
They looked quite proud of themselves. LOL
Ahh, I remember the days. I still have monkeys and not much keeps them in. good luck!
Oh and ya, I'll do amazing race wih ya! lol
I really shouldn't laugh because I know my day is coming.... thankfully mine aren't into climbing yet. Although we have the very same table and the other day Jackson and Chase each figured out how to climb into it...
Oh and I definitely laughed at "gated community"!
